The Reverend Philip W. Dougharty has been Rector of St. John's-Grace Episcopal Church since Easter 2002. Prior to becoming Rector at St. John's-Grace, Father Phil served at several Episcopal Churches in New Jersey including All Saints in Hoboken, Christ Church in Short Hills, St. Paul's in Bergen, and Trinity and St. Philip's Cathedral in Newark.
He was born in 1950, the son of a Baptist minister, and spent most of his early life in New Mexico. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Oklahoma Baptist University, a Master's Degree in Music from the University of New Mexico, and a Master of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary. Father Phil came to the priesthood after a varied career in music, education and media. He has taught music and theatre in public schools and at the college level, directed church and civic choirs, and worked in television and radio.
